Wow I cannot believe how quick the year has gone by. It was a good year for Tees Bakery and also our very first full year in the wedding industry. In December 2016 our website was launched and we were very excited about it and the opportunities ahead. In February we launched our 2017 wedding cakes collection at the National Wedding Show. It was such an amazing experience for us. You can read all about it here.
We have also had the opportunity of exhibiting at a couple of smaller shows and loved meeting lots of vendors in the wedding industry and brides and grooms to be.
This year, we have had our cakes featured in a number of magazines (such as Vogue, Elle, Harpers Bazaar, Wedding Cakes Magazine, Wedding Flowers Magazine, Your London Wedding) and a few online blogs ( such as Nu Bride, 5 Star, Bella Naija, Munaluchi- just to mention a few)
Instagram has been such an amazing platform for us to showcase our excellent work and we have gained a lot of support and encouragement from our organic followers (currently over 5000). We continue to thank all our supporters and follwers and will now like to share the Top 10 most liked cakes on Instagram this year.
Featuring our beautiful Bas Relief texture is this beauty that was created for my 7th wedding anniversary. We have since had quite a number of enquiries for cakes with this beautiful texture that gives an illusion of the design being carved out of the cake surface. Heres a little secret- This is one of my favourite cake textures and you may be seeing more Bas Relief cakes from us in 2018.
We are beginning to see trends of hand painted cakes. This elegant and beautiful monotone hand painted masterpiece was made for one of our gorgeous couples who had their wedding in Lagos Nigeria. It was such an honour to work on this cake. Look out for our blog on this beautiful wedding.
Some people are adamant about having a black wedding cake but our followers agreed with us that a black wedding cake can look just as stunning. We were very surprised and pleased when this beauty was chosen to be featured in Wedding Flowers Magazine. At the time we posted a picture of this cake we got the most likes ever on instagram.
In number 7 is this unique beauty in blue and silver that was delivered all the way to Basingstoke in the summer. It features a unique silver cloth like effect and was a such a head turner at the event.
Next is this very pretty birthday cake made for our beautiful repeat client. This particular ruffle effect seems to be loved by so many and we are looking forward to repeating this texture on a few cakes that will be made in 2018.
This masterpiece still brings a smile to our faces when we see it and are reminded of how the couple and guest kept looking around for the wedding cake (thinking we had never delivered it). They actually thought this cake was a decorative piece. The look on everyones faces when they realised it was the cake was absolutely priceless.
Another gold cake made it to the top 10. Peach goes so well with gold. We especially love the bottom tier that has a peach/gold illusion (depending on what angle you are looking from)
In number 3 is this turquoise beauty. Adorned on this cake was three carefully selected types of flowers. Roses - symbolising ‘Love’
Ranunculus - symbolising ‘attractiveness/ charm’
Succulents- symbolising ‘understanding, enduring and timeless love’
and 2 types of sugar crystals;
The pink crystals were ‘sugar morganite crystal’ symbolising unconditional love.
The blue crystals were ‘sugar aquamarine crystal’ symbolising truth and trust.
It is no surprise that the beautiful cakes from our stand at the National Wedding show made it as number 2. We are looking forward to recreating a few of these designs in 2018.
With an amazing 5341 likes our purple and gold trio of cakes got the highest number of likes in 2017! Indeed 'Ultra Violet” is the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2018- you have all proved that.
I just want to use this opportunity to thank you all for your kind support in 2017. Tees Bakery has a lot to offer in 2018 and we are looking forward to all the masterpieces that will be created. Congratulations once again to all our past and future couple. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
