Contemporary Nature

Every person dreams of a wedding that everyone would remember for a very long time and that is exactly what this classy wedding styled shoot photographed by the talented Tino Antonio achieved.

Inspired by an article featured in ‘The Pool’, Toyin of Tees Bakery and Dean of VNVlive decided to create a styleshoot which represents the modern day luxury Afro Caribbean wedding and hopefully give inspiration not just to Afro Caribbean couples but to couple of other nationalities\ races.

The shoot was held at a mesmerizing venue, the Palm Court of the Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London. The entire décor was done in white which created a look of purity, flair and elegance. The main purpose of the shoot was to incorporate nature to a contemporary wedding theme and this was done with great style and class, as the Palm Court in the Waldorf Hilton is known for its lush palm trees as well as its contemporary décor, which makes it the perfect wedding venue.

The Venue

VNV Live took even the smallest of details into account and no wonder the result was breath-taking, featuring a 7-meter runway that stretched from the entrance to the middle of the room and included a mini dance floor. The team dolled up the dance floor and each section of the runway had brand new gold-mirrored coating that complimented the light reflection and changed the look of the entire venue.

The Cake

Special attention was given to the wedding cake beautifully designed and crafted by Toyin of Tees Bakery. The cake was just the perfect amalgamation of nature and architecture. It was positioned right in the middle of the gorgeous dance floor and rose to a height of 45 inches. The cake, which was done in white with a bas relief finish complimented the theme- “Nature”, and was decorated with fresh flowers, tropical monstera leaves, as well as two flamingoes that symbolized the budding love of the bride and the groom. The piece of art was placed on a clear Perspex cake table and was surrounded with candles that gave the illusion of being up in the air from afar which added a little more magic to the décor.

The Décor

In order to contrast the white décor, Mary of Designer Chair Covers To Go used pastel pink table napkins and placed a beautiful tall and elaborate floral centre piece that had a hint of blush roses and cascading ivy’s- this blended well with the overall theme. The tables were decorated with gold mirrored cutlery, gold plates, and gold candle holders that complimented the runway that the cake was placed on.

The Bride

The Bride has a gorgeous afro textured hair styled by Faith, the talented Afro hair stylist. It was blow-dried and then pulled back into a sleek bun and decorated with fresh flowers that accentuated the colour of her eyes. Imelda of Beauty Boudoir kept the makeup subtle with gold smoky eyes and nude peachy lips which overall created a fresh, clean and glowing look. The model wore a beautiful white gown that was provided by the Jacqui James’s Garden City collection. The gown had intricate honeycomb detailing on one shoulder which was the focal point and a veil that complemented the free-flowing theme of nature. In order to keep the look simple and elegant, the bride only wore a pair of sparkly earrings by Elsie Joy Bridal.

The Groom

The groom’s outfit boasts of a classy and contemporary silhouette slim cut three-piece suit desgined by Younic’s Sartorial stylist, Ayo. In order to maintain the theme of nature, the groom (also an Afro-Caribbean model) had a flower corsage pinned on his vest.
